Adult ADHD Assessment & Treatment
Comprehensive evaluation for adults who suspect they may have Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. Our assessment follows best-practice guidelines to ensure accurate diagnosis and effective treatment planning. A GP referral is required to access our ADHD assessment service. Available for patients aged 17 years and over.
Assessment pathway
A thorough assessment typically takes 90–120 minutes and will usually be completed in one sitting (with a small break).
ADHD self-report, PHQ-9/GAD-7 screening, and baseline blood pressure and pulse rate.
Detailed discussion of symptoms, developmental history, and impact on daily life.
Review of school reports, prior assessments, or input from family where possible.
Review of physical health, current medications, and any contraindications.
Following assessment, if a diagnosis of ADHD is confirmed and medication is indicated, an electronic script can be provided. Patients are provided with information on risks and benefits in order to make informed decisions regarding their care.
What to Prepare
Having these items ready will help us complete a thorough assessment. Don't worry if you can't obtain everything — we can still proceed with what's available.
- Any previous psychological or psychiatric assessments
- School reports from childhood (if available)
- Current medication list
- Driver's licence or ID for verification
- Medicare card and referral letter
- List of current symptoms and when they started
- Examples of how symptoms affect work, relationships, or daily life
Prescribing Approach
- Treatment is individualised based on your specific presentation and needs
- Stimulant medications are typically first-line but require careful monitoring
- We start low and go slow, with regular review appointments
- Blood pressure and heart rate monitoring is required
- Non-medication strategies are also discussed
- Ongoing prescribing requires regular review (at least every 3-6 months)
Important Information
A diagnosis of ADHD is not guaranteed following assessment. Our role is to provide a thorough, honest evaluation. If ADHD is not confirmed, we can explore other explanations for your symptoms and recommend alternative support. Medication is one part of treatment and may not be suitable for everyone.
How to Access an ADHD Assessment
This is a referral-only practice. Patients cannot self-book appointments. Ask your GP for a referral to SolasMind. Once your referral is received and accepted, our team will contact you to arrange your appointment.
