Appointments
How do telehealth appointments work?
Telehealth appointments are conducted via secure video call. You'll receive a link before your appointment that you can access from any device with a camera, microphone, and internet connection. You can be anywhere in Australia for your appointment — home, office, or anywhere private.
How long are appointments?
Initial assessments are typically 60-90 minutes. ADHD assessments may take up to 120 minutes in total, sometimes split across two sessions. Follow-up appointments are usually 30 minutes, with extended 45-minute appointments available when needed.Do I need a referral?
Do I need a referral?
Yes, this is a referral-only practice. A GP or specialist referral is required for all appointments. Referrals are valid for 12 months and can cover multiple appointments. Your GP can send your referral to referrals@solasmind.com.au.
How do I prepare for my first appointment?
Before your appointment, you'll be asked to complete online questionnaires about your symptoms and history. Have your Medicare card, referral letter, and any previous reports ready. Find a quiet, private space with good internet connection.
Fees & Medicare
How do I pay for my appointment?
You can pay the full fee or a 20% deposit at booking, with the remaining balance due on the day of the appointment. Payments are taken securely online.
Can I get a Medicare rebate?
Medicare rebates may be available for eligible patients with a valid GP referral. Eligibility depends on referral validity, Medicare item requirements, patient location at time of consultation, and individual circumstances. We can process your Medicare rebate for you or provide a receipt to claim it yourself.
What happens if I need to cancel?
Cancellations made less than 48 hours before an appointment incur a fee of $250. This fee is not Medicare-rebatable. We understand emergencies happen — please contact us as soon as possible if you need to reschedule.
Prescriptions & Medications
Can you prescribe medications via telehealth?
Yes, most psychiatric medications can be prescribed via telehealth. Prescriptions are sent electronically to your chosen pharmacy. For controlled medications like stimulants, additional regulations apply and ongoing monitoring is required.
Can you prescribe ADHD medications?
If ADHD is diagnosed following a thorough assessment, stimulant medications can be prescribed where appropriate. Australian regulations require specific monitoring including regular blood pressure checks. Not everyone with ADHD requires or is suitable for medication.
How do I get script repeats?
Script requests between appointments can be made by contacting the practice. Please allow 3-5 business days for processing. Regular review appointments are required for ongoing prescriptions — the frequency depends on your medication and stability.
Privacy & Communication
Is my information kept private?
Your privacy is protected by strict professional obligations and Australian privacy law. Your information is stored securely and only shared with your consent (usually with your GP). Encrypted, secure systems are used for video consultations and data storage.
Will you communicate with my GP?
Yes, a letter is sent to your referring doctor after each appointment. This includes the assessment, diagnosis, recommendations, and any prescriptions. This ensures continuity of care and allows your GP to provide appropriate support.
What if I'm in crisis?
This practice is not an emergency service. If you're in crisis or experiencing thoughts of self-harm, please contact emergency services (000), go to your nearest emergency department, or call Lifeline (13 11 14) or Beyond Blue (1300 22 4636).
How do I make a complaint?
We are committed to providing high-quality, respectful, and ethical care. If you have a concern or wish to make a complaint about any aspect of our service, we encourage you to contact us in the first instance by emailing info@solasmind.com.au. Your concern will be treated confidentially and reviewed promptly. Making a complaint will not affect your ongoing care.
